Ruminations On Rejection

I've been thinking about the subject of rejection lately. Well, why you may ask. For starters I've worked on a chemical dependency unit for the last 15 years. It is an ongoing theme among those who abuse alcohol and drugs; they experienced rejection at some point in their lives, could not deal with it, and turned to drugs or alcohol to numb the the pain. Secondly, the other day I text my husband "I love you" and he didn't return my text. Yes, he did get the message, LOL! It was probably the only time in 37 years he did not follow up with saying, "I love you too". But it still felt like rejection nonetheless and hurt my feelings.

There are major examples of rejection, but today I would like to think about those small, everyday examples we have all experienced.

***Maybe you said hello to someone in passing and they did not return with a hello back.
***Possibly you called someone and your call was not returned.
***Have you ever been excluded from a social or family gathering?
***Your kids, friends, and family just won't read your blog! Ha! Ha!
***Perhaps an "I love you" was not returned with an "I love you too".

As I pondered more on this it occured to me, does not our Lord feel this way...

***When we fail to talk to Him daily?
***When we do not call out to Him with our needs?
***When we do not include Him in our activities and gatherings?
***When we fail to read His words?
***When He says, "I love you child" and we are not listening or we are distracted.

This realization caused me to ask the Lord for forgivness. It hurt my heart to think I have hurt God's heart.

Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and aquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him: He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.

Blessings, peace and all that is good,
Memaw

PS: Did ya know there is a website dedicated to rejection? They even have a store, see above teddy bear. It's www.rejectionline.com crazy I know!
