Goals

I have a few goals for 2009. Not really resolutions, but goals. For many years now I have put off setting goals for myself. I don't really know why...maybe the fear of failure? Even as I type these words, I feel a little anxious in disclosing them.

But I just read in a devotion this morning that "the beginning of anxiety is the end of faith...and the beginning of true faith, is the end of anxiety" (George Mueller). So with that quote in mind, I am going to step out on faith and set a few goals for 2009. Please...no laughing...my stomach is quivering.

1. Attend an Anne Graham Lotz "Just Give Me Jesus" conference. This one will be easy. Just get to Jacksonville, Florida April 24th & 25, sit, listen & be revived. Anyone care to join me?

2. Walk a Marathon. Yeah...this is the hard one. No in between with me. No sir ree bob! For someone that can walk 3 miles on a really, really good day, this should be a piece of cake. I have no idea why this is something I have always, always, always wanted to do. I just know I am so inspired by folks that can run and walk long distances. I've posted the below video before, but it is worth a second post. This man is 65 years old and completes triathlons pushing, carrying, and pulling his grown handicapped son. That's 26.2 miles running, 112 miles bicycling, and 2.4 miles swimming. You'll be inspired, I promise.
So that's it. Have you any goals for 2009? Come on...step on out in faith with me! What's the worst that could happen?

Blessings, peace, all good,
Memaw

Good for you!!!!!! I think it's important to set goals. It's like the old saying, "If you aim at nothing you are sure to hit it."

Your goals sound GREAT! I haven't set ANY goals. Kind of pathetic isn't it.

Sounds like some great goals. Let us know about that marathon. Yes, I've seen that clip before. Talk about inspiring!

I don't tag people. But if I DID, you would be one of them. Maybe you should check out my blog and see if I make anymore sense on my blog :)

Oh my goodness! Walk a marathon? Now I feel terrible--I haven't been able to get my mile in lately!

Those are both good goals. It's been a year of changes for us, and being that I no longer have a surgery clinic to manage, I have to set new goals that aren't necessarily work related.
This year I've decided to start taking care of myself. So I've gone to the doctor, I'm exercising.

I've also decided to make more friends. I've been doing more stuff with neighbors, which has been just terrific.

I'm also narrowing down a new professional direction. I'm thinking of making the jump for clinic management into taking a paralegal course. I'm not sure --are lawyers more difficult than surgeons?

I'm going to paint the rooms in the house.

And I'm working harder on my relationships with my teenagers!

Ugh. I think that's enough!
