Striped Pajamas

Once in a while a movie comes along that you just know, after watching it, you will not soon forget it.

Such was the case tonight after viewing a very soul stirring movie called "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas". The last movie I watched concerning the Holocaust was Corrie Ten Boom's "The Hiding Place". I think it was released about 1989 and I still remember dialog from that movie after all these many years! And for me, that is saying something!

It's about two young boys who befriend each other. There is just one "small" fact that complicates their friendship. One boy's father is a high ranking official in Hitler's army, who oversees a German concentration camp for Jews. The other boy is a prisoner of war, along with his father, in the same concentration camp.

Through a barbed wire fence their friendship is developed.

This movie will greatly influence how you may view war. And will especially give you a glimpse of seeing war through a child's eyes.
It's a difficult subject, but a movie well worth seeing.

I've been to New York city many times now and have never visited the Holocaust Museum. It has officially made my "Bucket List" after seeing this movie.

***A time to love and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3:8

Looking forward to that time when all there will be is love and peace...come quickly Lord Jesus!

I have never seen the "Striped Pajamas" movie but would love to. Like you, I recently saw "The Hiding Place" again after many years. What a powerful testimony! I wondered how I would react in the same circumstances. It made me really think and challenged my faith. Take care. I hope you have a blessed weekend.

They also have a museum like that in Washington DC. I am going to go see it some time soon. I've always been fascinated with "Hitler's War". What drove him to do this tragic thing, etc. Sounds like I have 2 movies to add to my "must see" list. Love you

I remember The Hiding place, watching it as well as reading the book. Very stirring.

"come quickly Lord Jesus" -- AMEN!!!

My now 8-year-old is playing with her gift. I've been crying off & on all day because I just can't believe how fast she's growing up!

I'm so glad you posted about this movie. I've been wanting to rent it. Do you think it's too graphic or unsuitable for my daughter? I try to find out what others think before the movie comes in the mail so I'll know if she can watch it with DH & I. That way I can plan when to watch it.

Have a blessed Lord's Day! Oh, if I haven't told you before...your blog is so pretty!

I'm not sure if I will watch it or not. I am sure it is wonderful and I trust your review but movies like that get to me and stay with me a while. What the people in the camps went through is very real to me and it scares me that one human being would treat another human being like that. Our hope is in Jesus Christ. He makes sense when other things in the world do not.
