Peter the ApostleMany, many, years ago, I heard a wonderful sermon by Dr. E. V. Hill entitled "Mr. Mess Up". It was the story of Peter the Apostle and the numerous times he had "messed up". Especially his denial of Jesus. Not once, not twice, but three times!
How often throughout my years as a Christian, have I found myself identifying with Peter.
This is another one of Chris Higham's beautiful portraits entitled "Peter the Apostle". He states, "Under pressure any one of us can break. We are more fragile than we like to think, less able than we imagine and not as dependable as our boastful words make us appear. Thank God that the Scriptures demonstrate we are not lost and forgotten because we fall and fail."

Thank heaven for Peter.
Thank heaven for Jesus.
Thank heaven for the Cross.
Thank you Father God.

I agree. It simply amazes me the times I mess up and the fact that after it still, He wants me? Man. What a wonderful God.
What a powerful picture and Oh boy how many times I have found myself in the same situation but I have a friend, Jesus, who knows my deepest failings but loves me all the same. Judith
I can certainly relate to Peter. Oh, how many times I have made mistakes. But thank God for His love, mercy, and compassion. His open arms are always there to receive us. Thank you for your post today. Blessings.

What an amazing picture. Isn't it wonderful that God's hand is extended to those of us who continually fall and need his help to get up?
Well...what do you know! I identify with Peter the most out of everyone in the Bible..because Jesus asks him 3 times "Peter do you love me?" and of course all three times he says "Yes my Lord thou knowest I love thee" with the last time Peter seeming to become irritated because he kept asking him...So, I think Peter truly loved him...so much so, that in his hasty fit of anger, cut off the Roman soldiers ear...which Jesus had to preceed to put back on...Just like me...get mad and act in hast like a fool..then he has to say..well, let me fix this for you! I love you
Peter was one of the great Christians. Not because he was always right or said or did the right things... but because he did not! And God still used him to great effect. There is hope for all of us!
I'm good at that. Messing up I mean. That picture is really something.

Yeah like everyone else I can relate to Peter - not only because of his stuff ups but because he was so emotional, so passionate.
Like Peter I have trouble managing my emotions.
I also have difficulty trusting God in situations.
