“Mark 10: Bartimaeus receives his sight”
In painting this I came to realise that losing your sight is not the only form of blindness. We who see, can miss virtually everything important. Bartimaeus, although blind, knew Jesus was his only hope, which is why he kept on shouting out his name. (Chris Higham painting & words)
Mercy...it's one of my most favorite words. Not only for the way it sounds, but because of the wonderful meaning of it.
Jesus! Thou son of David have mercy on me! I can hear blind Bartimaeus crying it. They tried to hush him, but he just kept saying it the more...Jesus! Thou son of David have mercy on me! And He did, and Bartimeus was healed.
How thankful I am for a merciful God for sending us a healing Jesus!
"His mercy hath no relation to time,
no limitation in time, it is not first, nor last,
but eternal, everlasting."
~John Donne~

Mercy. Wonderful word of depth that kind of just slows everything down. Thank you for sharing this.
Over on my blog, I talk about a man who wrote me an email filled with vitriol. I think he is completely overwhelmed with grief over the death of his brother, an Army surgeon. I think he probably looks like the man in that picture you posted, and is very deserving of mercy.
Debra, thank you for sharing your awesome talent with us! Mercy is so mind-blowing and to know that Jesus extends that to each one of us! Blessings!
The story of Bartimaeus is one of my favorites. I really like the painting. I agree with Susan, I love how this blind beggar kept shouting out to Jesus, and we should do the same!
Ambersun, Just Be Real,
I only wished I could paint and write that well. The picture posted is by a wonderfully talented christian artist by the name of Chris Higham, the words to the first paragraph of this post is his as well!
I LOVE that painting...it is one I'd like to try..wow..
I, too, am so glad for that word mercy...I have been learning that but for God's mercy, I would be that person for whom I feel very little mercy...
so glad He is God...
Thank you, God, for mercy..
Love, Sita
That 's right Dedra, if God had not been merciful I would have perished
I left your page open while I got work done just listening to the music.
