The High Cost Of Living In 'Prettyville'

Well, looks like there were some big breaking news today as I slept.

Donald Trump allowed Miss California (Carrie Prejean) to keep her title today...how nice of him. (A slight hint of sarcasm should be noted here.)

You see, she messed up. In a contest that is based mostly on a contestants ability to be as superficial as possible, Miss Prejean did the unthinkable . She answered a question, by one of the "judges", with her "heart".

"I think marriage should be between a man and a woman" "No Offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

Too bad it was the wrong answer. At least the wrong answer for the judge that asked her the question and very wrong for the masses of people who clamored for the more "politically correct" answer.

Beauty pageants, in general, are not equipped to handle any type of realness, genuineness, or intellect for that matter, on the part of its contestants.

It's for these reasons that I so highly dislike Beauty pageants.

You must stand there and look pretty as you can be, parade around half naked or more and be judged as if you are live stock. The judging often times is done by men, but there are usually some women judges as well.

You are required to lie about who you are, what you are, what you really look like, and to top it off, you have to lie about what you really think is right or wrong...if you want to win that is.

As Chonda Pierce so aptly puts it in her latest DVD... no sweetie... "this ain't prettyville.".

~~Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30~~~

Yeah I must be more appreciative of the fact that, since I am not conventionally beautiful, I am allowed to have my own opinions.

God Bless

This young woman is an example of what our society does to so many young woman. For all her earlier bad choices I am glad she went to her root core values on this one and spoke out. It will be "interesting" to see what she does with her life and beauty from this point forward.

I heard on the news this morning that Donald Trump said that she gave an honest answer, the same opinion that President Obama has...
...did that judge want her to lie...was he setting her up...

..interesting how it is working out itself...people diggin up as much dirt on her past as possible...Satan is really transparent in this one...

May God keep us honest...

Mrs. Jennifer showed me that DVD and I laughed my head off. Well put, Memaw. It's good to know that there are young women in those pageants that really have personality. Love ya!

I am right there with you on prettyville. I was very glad that Ms. Prejean kept her crown for the sake of her testimony. She stood up for truth and for her faith.

Yet, I am disturbed by the entire concept of beauty pageants. Very superficial. And I really don't like the parading around half-naked. For me, there's just something not right with that. But, I don't want to judge a heart either, for I may grieve the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for this post.

Blessings to you today.

In Christ,

Andrea

I am not a lover of these pageants. I had some thoughts of my own on my business blog, so I'll comment from there so you can go read it. (Just click on my name.) Miss California particularly needs prayer.

I dont like Beauty Pageants either,,,,,I havent watched one since I was a kid! But I am very proud of this young lady,,,,,she had to know that her answer wouldnt be very popular, she couldve told a big lie at this point,,,,,but she answered from her heart! WE ALL need to stand up for the things we KNOW are right! In this day and time, that seems to be harder than ever!!

Totally agree! This country has become so shallow. I'm reallly praying to keep my DD grounded as to what true beauty is!
