Committed

Late breaking news yesterday.

Tiger Woods played golf.

And that is exactly as it should be. Playing golf is something Tiger is good at. What Tiger is NOT good at is commitment.

What's worse, he's not alone.
Does anyone say 'I do' anymore and really mean it?

Such a disturbing trend this business of unfaithfulness. Seems with each passing day, it becomes more acceptable in our society. Even among those who should know better, people who profess themselves as Christians. What a tragedy.

Some would have you believe that breaking marriage vows affect only the couple involved. What many fail to realize is that it permanently scars the children. I can tell you this with confidence because I am the adult child of an adulteress mother. It leaves children with enormous trust and boundary issues.

By the grace of God, my own personal scars are barely noticeable now. How thankful I am for that. And I'm thankful for a faithful husband and blessed marriage of some 38 years now. Next month we will celebrate our 39th anniversary. To God be the glory.

As the song by Clint Black says, "when I said I do, I meant I will".

Wonder if Tiger ever heard of it?

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be ONE flesh." Genesis 2:24

Amen! Debra,

When most of our kids are being raised by television and filthy violent computer games, we should not be surprised.

It sure seems like we are in the last days that the Bible warns us about.

2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Yep, i'd say you pretty well nailed it on this one.

How many things begin with the choices we make, also how many things are ended by our choices. All of our choices have consequences, good or bad. He has given us that free will to choose.

As you said... 'by the grace of God'... me too!

Thanks Debra. Good words. I can just picture you heading home from work this morning. Get some good rest.

Love,

Sonja

Amen again, Debra. My youngest works in a preschool and she can tell you something of the hurt she sees in the poor young children who have been victim to their parents' lack of taking the marriage vows seriously.

I don 't know the latest on Tiger. But I saw the TV statement he made earlier which was commendable.

I know. It is so disappointing to hear stories such as this, especially when so many people and kids look up to them.
ot - you can do a search on pacman. I go here: http://www.freepacman.org/

I can say with absolute certainty that what I wanted to hear about from coverage of the Masters was the story of who won and how he won. I was annoyed that right after the scroll announcing Phil Mickelson as the winner, we had to see where Mr Woods finished and a listing of the reasons he didn't win.

Who cares?

We didn't get an announcement of the other golfers who didn't win and why. I'm tired of getting news on Mr Woods' play whether he wins or doesn't. It's time for the media to treat him like any other golfer. If he doesn't win, he's just another name on the leader board.

Maybe treating him like any other golfer when he doesn't win will help him in his journey to understand that he's no more special than any other person in the world. He just has a specific talent that makes lovers of sports pay attention.

Happy Anniversary to you!

HI to my sweet friend DEBRA!!!!
I so love your posts!!!!
It is A CULTURE CRISIS, we are in!!!!
Every one seems to think they are entitled to things, possessions and allowing them to act out their very fantasies not caring who or whom they hurt, kids are so want/me oriented, I see it in children as young as 2 and under and we have a very strong willed little one here!!! But I do NOT allow her to own me or my time or throw a fit and get what she wants, no NOT HERE!!!!
Kids have to be taught NO means NO and you don't get everything!!!!
So happy for your 39 years of Marital Bliss!!!!!It is a COMMITMENT for life, work at it, it can be done!!!! I love you and I do for life!!!!1
Have a Blessed weekend my sweet dear friend
hugs,
jamie
