A STORY ABOUT 'MUCH AFRAID'
Faith came singing into my room,
And other guest took flight:
Fear and Anxiety, Grief and Gloom
Sped out into the night.
I wondered that such peace could be,
But Faith said gently,
"Don't you see?
They really cannot live
With me."
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." I Timothy 1:7

**'Much Afraid' is the main character in Hannah Hurnard's "Hinds Feet On High Places." One of my favorite books.**

This is a good message for those like me that need to read it.
Very encouraging.
When Faith enters the room, Fear flie s out of the window
Hinds Feet on High Places - we have that book on a shelf somewhere in this house. - I think I might try to find it and give it a read.
I remember so clearly a sermon--maybe 30 years ago--which helped me see a family problem in a new light. God was with us in this, and we did not have to, indeed, we could not, cope with it on our own. It made all the difference in my life.
i so love little 'much afraid.' one of the
most endearing characters in literature.
i should quote 1 tim 1:7 everyday!
I have read the book over & over throughout my life. Beautiful.
And the poem - so true...
Blessings my friend!
Deb
Can we EVER hear this too much??!!
Not me!! :)
Hugs!

What a wonderful post, Debra. I, too, have read Hinds Feet over and over and love it. Fear & Faith truly cannot abide in the same space. One will run the other out each time. I choose, like you, to live in Faith and run fear out every time.
Hi, Debra,
I love this post. Thank you sharing it. I'm going to mark that verse in my Bible, if I haven't already.
The cooler weather is so wonderful, but it's so hard to figure out what to wear during the transition isn't it?
D
I have to read Hinds Feet, I haven't yet..but now I really want to.
Yep...faith ushers fear right out of our lives...God's answers and ways give us such a foolproof map for life if we read His word and follow His instructions!
What a great post! I love that book. Who of can't relate to Much Afraid sometimes? Thanks for the memory jogger and thanks for all you share!
I just tagged you for a Meme. Please come check it out!
That's my mother in law's favorite book as well. I need to read it again sometime. The message was lost on me the first time I read it, yeeeeears ago. I would hope that I am mature enough in my Christian walk to get it now.
Beautiful post Debra.
I read that book years ago. I need to read it again. There is stunning insight here! Thanks for sharing this, Deb...
