You Gotta Know The Most Important Thing

I'm told we had a few flakes of snow here early this morning just as I was going to sleep about 6:00 am! Rain, rain, rain and very cold temps throughout the day mostly. Worked out good for me though, as I got to sit down and watch a really sweet movie with my baby girl...(she's 36 but don't tell anyone)! She had been telling me about this movie for quite some time, "Because Of Winn Dixie".

It turned out to be every bit as good a movie as she said it would be. At first glance it appears to be a movie for children. A young girl and her dog Winn Dixie. After viewing it though you realize it has many layers and deep lessons. Without getting into the plot, the movie addresses such issues as abandonment, loneliness, love, friendship and reconciliation.

One of my favorite parts is the bottle-tree scene. The young girl befriends an old woman who most of the kids refer to as a witch. She's actually a recovering alcoholic, named Gloria Dump, played by Cicely Tyson. She has captured all of her old, past, evil deeds in the beautifully colored whiskey and wine bottles and hung them on a tree in her front yard.

In this scene, Gloria looks at the young girl and tells her, "You gotta know the most important thing." And of course the girl ask her what is the most important thing?

Gloria answered, "What is is the most important thing to YOU? That is the most important thing."

I've been blessed to know what MY important thing is.

How about YOU? Do you know what YOUR important thing is? It seems just the right time of the year to be asking ourselves this.

Merry Christmas all,
MeMaw

Oh, it's a good book as well! My daughter has it and enjoyed it.

The most important thing? I think it changes as the years go on.
Right now it'd be staying true to myself so that I can be of service to myself, those I love, and make the places I live better.

Glad you'll get to see your son & his family!
It'll rain down here in Southern California from M- Thursday! Good!

Love that tree.
I'll have to see that movie.
It's snowing as I write. Very cold and super windy. BRRR!
We just got in a couple hours ago from CO. Made it just in time. However, my husband and older daughter are still out there having to drive in it.
God bless,
Brenda :)

It would be easy to say that my children are the most important things in my life however when it really comes down to the nitty gritty....I have to say Jesus is the most important thing in my life. Without Him I would have no hope of being reunited with my Heavenly son who I miss every day. I would not have the hope of seeing my dear Mom and Heavenly sister. I would have no reason to be here or purpose. I would have no hope except this short existence here on Earth. Jesus is my most important thing. :) Blessings to you as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus onto this earth.
