S E A S O N S

I am the night watchman.

Over my neighborhood that is. Often times I peak out my window at two or three in the morning and this is usually the view that I see...minus the snow that is (please note stated snow flakes illuminated by street lamp post, they are there, I promise).

Can you just imagine if someone happened to be staring back at me? They would probably wonder what in the world is that crazy woman doing, standing in her window taking pictures of a dark neighborhood at this time of the morning?

Of course if they are bloggers they would immediately say,"oh, she must be a blogger!"
Such a rare occurrence. Snowing in the south, in December. Of course it did not stick, but it sure was pretty to see it coming down. Big ole' snow flakes!

Seasonal Changes

I've been thinking a lot about change lately. Thinking about it and experiencing it. As the years have past I've noticed my hair getting grayer and grayer. Well in keeping with the snow theme for December, I went to the beauty shop and well...how shall I say? I just went a head and did it all at one time.
Pictures will be forthcoming after I get to know the person in the mirror! Ha!

Seven Is the Best Number I Know

Had a special conversation with my youngest son this past week. Seems the Lord has seen fit to bless us with a new little life in about nine months! She or he will be my seventh grandchild! Seven is good!

November

Speaking of change, could someone please tell me who stole November? I mean one day it was Halloween and then it was December 5th. What is it with time flying by these days? Or is it just me?

Mental Illness

It's not really a laughing matter. Really, it's not. And no, sometimes folks really can't just "get a grip" as some might lead you to believe believe.

We are all aware of the fact that there is physical poverty. There is also a poverty of the soul. But what some fail to realize is that there is a poverty of the spirit. And when the spirit of a person is wounded, it tends to affect all things physical and spiritual.

I have a friend waging quite a battle right now with mental illness. In their world it is not the season to be jolly. All is not calm and all is not bright. It is a season, I pray, that will pass for them and very soon.

I remain thankful for a loving Lord who has seen me through many, many seasons in my life. Good times and bad, plenty and little, sickness and health. As the song so rightly puts it, "He's Been Faithful To Me."

As we go through this blessed season, might we remember and pray for those who are living in poverty.
Physical poverty, poverty of the soul, and poverty of the spirit.
God bless everyone, have a wonderful and blessed season of Christmas!

~~~ To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Eccl 3:1~~~
Loved reading this information packed post Debra. I feel the Lord is dealing with me about some "changes" too. In the natural I hate changes but I trust my Lord.
Prayers for your friend. It would be difficult to face that, accepting that you need help and wondering where to find it.
And if I looked out my window and someone was staring back I think I would scream.
Congratulations on the seventh grandbaby! I'm so happy for your family!!
YAY for another Saints Victory! It was a good football weekend for us.
As we can't see the snowflakes in your photo - but you know they are there - may your friend also know in the depths of her soul that even though she can't see/feel Him, Jesus is there, blanketing her with his love.
My husband and I also are feeling changes taking place - it's been going on for awhile now, but there's a deep change taking place everywhere. And the mature (whether like me they dye their roots or not), are sensing it in various ways. And I'm thankful God has called his 'watchmen' to stand guard over their areas. **hugs**
Seven is an amazing number! I'm curious to see the birthdate of your seventh grandchild. I love to take their birthdates to Scripture and see which verses correspond with that date (for a life verse for them).
From one 'watchman to another' - Blessings and hugs my friend.
This is a very beautiful post. thanks for sharing. A good reminder, for certain.
I heard about a guy who found out he was going to lose his job right after Christmas. I asked him if he prayed. He said he had been.
I'm grateful that I can still ask people that question.
Congratulations on #7.
Mental illness, I understand my MOm struggles with it, and this time of year is hard on her, as she wishes she was close to all of us and be at all of our homes. Also money is tight for her and she feels bad that she cannot buy us things, I tell her we need nothing---nothing, we are all so Blessed!!!! I will say a Prayer for your friend.
hugs,
So many good things to 'chew on' here. Some people might call them random thoughts. I say it's the wisdom that comes through the years!! For sure there is plenty to mull on.
Thought of you Sunday with the Saints! YAY!
Thanks Debra, these are good words, and I know I identify with the variety... my mind seems to work that way too. Is there a certain age when that happens??
Congratulations on your seventh grandchild. They are each so precious and unique. You are right about mental illiness. I have a daughter-in-law who is unable to leave her house. It affects not only her but my granddaughter and son. I pray for her each day that she will find her way. Thank you for sharing.
Debra, congratulations on the new addition you all are expecting. I see I wasn't the only one up peeking out the window for the snow. It was only flurries here as well, but I really enjoyed seeing them.
I had to chuckle over the visit to the beauty shop and the gray hair. I mentioned letting mine go all gray and my hairdresser said "You will hate it". If I paid her to color my hair I would think it was the money, but I think she just knows me..lol.
I can't wait to see the pics of the new you!
Hugs,
Rose
