Gulf Shores...Love Remembered, Love Renewed

After enjoying a wonderful day of thanksgiving with my daughter and her family, my husband and I got away for few days at Gulf Shores, Alabama. We had originally planned to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit Billy Grahams library, but due to work being done on our car and schedule changes at work that plan had to be put on hold. It's been quite some time since we visited there...about 2 hurricanes ago. I had forgotten how much I love this place.

My husband and I noticed so many changes in the area. Not only had the area changed, but we talked about how so much had changed for us through the years. We remembered with fondness, all the memories of being there with all our children when they were younger. We had spent so many vacations there together as a family, but just as the tide changes so do we...our circumstances, our families, our lives. I am finally learning to embrace change...with joy...real, deep, abiding joy.

We woke up Friday morning expecting rain, as had been predicted. Wow! What a surprise! Clear blue skies. They call this "Black Friday". With much protest, I left this beautiful scene to go shopping. There are some men in our family that love to shop, my husband is the newest addition to this unusual club.

The balcony! How I love the balcony. I remember in particular many years ago, it was in July, I spent the entire night on the balcony. So peaceful...just me, the sound of the waves, my 20 inch box fan (LOL!) and the good Lord! Best night of sleep I ever had at the beach!

I am so back in love with this place and thankful we ended up here on this "rainy" weekend!

I'm seeing new memories on the horizon! Could our sun glasses be any bigger?! We look like Mr. & Mrs. Roy Orbison! LOL!

Blessings, peace, all good,
MeMaw

My husband and I spent one winter in 1999-2000 near Gulf Shores (in Magnolia Springs) when we were traveling around the country in our 5th wheel. We are not beach people but it was a very pleasant stay and visit for us. Glad you got to go back and make new memories. Yes, time marches on...as the bible says a time and a season for everything.

Hi, Thanks for stopping off at my blog for a visit.
I love going to the beach. Only been on the west coast however. Never been further east than TX. Our goal is to someday head that direction and see the sites...and maybe even get to visit some blogging friends.
Look forward to perusing your blog a little more.
God bless,
Brenda :)

I am about 40 minutes from Gulf Shores! It really is a beautiful place. Clean and family oriented, do you agree?

Next time you are here let me know. We could have lunch!

Be blessed.
